Part Buddha, part prize-fighter (or so he’s been told), Hutson hails from Cleveland—a city known for its lousy weather, bad jokes, and, until LeBron brought home the NBA trophy, tragic sports stories. Growing up there, he developed a thick skin, a trait that has served him well in the world of advertising.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was a proud member of the Badger Band Marching Band, Hutson set his sights on the agency scene in Chicago. He began his career at JWT, working on all the brands he grew up with and learning from some of the industry’s best minds. His journey then took him to Houston, Vegas, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, and back to Chicago (a few times).

He’s been called a natural leader, a creative rock, and the kind of creative director everyone dreams of working with. He’s elevated a regional agency to national prominence, revitalized a creative department that lost its mojo, and has been credited with not just for building brands, but for creating environments where brands come to live.

His work weaves seamless brand stories that captivate audiences across all media. His achievements have been recognized by the One Show, Effies, Marcom, Hermès, and Addys, including several “Best-of-Show” awards. His work has also been discussed by Whoopi Goldberg on “The View,” Bill O’Reilly on Fox News, and featured in Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes, and the Huffington Post.

When he’s not crafting groundbreaking, brand-defining campaigns, Hutson enjoys reading, traveling, helping his seventeen-year-old daughter navigate high school, or practicing yoga—a discipline he embraced over twenty years ago. An eternal optimist, he believes every year is the year his beloved Cleveland Browns will return to glory. And in case you’re wondering, he played the trombone.
